Does the APEC ROES-50 remove arsenic?

Yes - with an important nuance. Reverse osmosis is highly effective against arsenic V (arsenate), the form found in most chlorinated municipal water, with reductions around 99%. Arsenic III (arsenite), which is more common in untreated well water, is uncharged and harder for an RO membrane to capture unless it's oxidized to arsenic V first (chlorination usually does this). So on city water the ROES-50 handles arsenic very well; on private wells, test your water and add pre-oxidation if arsenic III is present.

Does the APEC ROES-50 remove PFAS?
Yes. The reverse-osmosis membrane reduces PFOA and PFOS by roughly 99%. PFAS performance is one of RO's strengths; confirm the current claim on the NSF International database.
Does it remove fluoride?
Yes - RO reduces fluoride by around 96%, which is why an under-sink RO like the ROES-50 is the go-to choice when fluoride is your main concern.
How much water does it produce?
It's rated at about 50 gallons per day and stores filtered water in a tank, so you get water on demand from the dedicated faucet rather than waiting in real time.
Does it waste water?
Like all reverse-osmosis systems, it sends some water to the drain - roughly three parts to one part filtered. That ratio is the trade-off for RO-grade filtration.
How often do the filters need changing?
The pre-filters are changed about once a year and the RO membrane lasts several years, which keeps running costs among the lowest of the systems we tested.
