How to choose a countertop water filter
NSF/ANSI 372 covers lead-free materials in the housing. It says nothing about what the filter removes. NSF/ANSI 58 is the reverse osmosis performance standard; 42, 53 and 401 cover taste, health contaminants and pharmaceuticals. A listing that says only "NSF 372 certified" has not been certified for contaminant reduction at all.
