Best PFAS Water Filters 2026
Plenty of filters say they remove PFAS. Fewer are certified for it, and the gap is easy to miss because a filter can carry NSF/ANSI 53 or 58 without PFAS being on its listing. Every pick below has a listing that names PFOA and PFOS, which we read in the certifier's own directory. Further down are popular filters sold for PFAS where we could not find that listing.
Look for PFOA and PFOS named in an NSF/ANSI 53 or 58 listing for the exact model. "NSF certified" on the box is not enough: Brita's standard pitcher filter, for one, is certified under 42 and 53 but not for PFAS.

Sold for PFAS, not certified for it
We looked these up and could not find a listing that names PFOA or PFOS (checked 3 October 2026):
- Clearly Filtered pitcher: listed under NSF/ANSI 42 only, in both NSF and WQA. PFAS reduction is the maker's claim. Review.
- APEC ROES-50: its NSF/ANSI 58 listing covers TDS only. A good low-cost RO for dissolved solids, not a certified PFAS filter. Review.
- SpringWell CF+: no listing found in NSF, IAPMO or WQA. Review.
No plumbing and no RO? Two countertop carbon units are certified under NSF/ANSI 53 for PFAS. The Aquasana Clean Water Machine is WQA certified for PFOA and PFOS. The Ninja HydraSense is listed by IAPMO R&T for Total PFAS, a mixture of seven compounds including PFOA and PFOS; neither is listed for fluoride. Both are compared in countertop water filters, and the HydraSense listings are broken down in the Ninja HydraSense review.
The standard Brita filter is certified for taste and odor (NSF 42) and for cadmium, copper and mercury (NSF 53), not for PFAS or lead. Despite marketing claims, standard Brita pitcher filters are not certified to remove PFAS. Checked against Brita's WQA listings on 3 October 2026.
