Waterdrop X8 Review 2026
The Waterdrop X8 is a tankless under-sink RO system rated at 800 GPD, the fastest in our catalogue. IAPMO R&T lists it under NSF/ANSI 58, 42 and 372, but read the 58 listing closely: it covers TDS reduction only. Waterdrop lists PFOA/PFOS, fluoride and lead reduction from its own lab testing, and those are not part of the certification. The version both buttons here lead to, the X8-A, adds an alkaline mineral stage. It is the most expensive option on this list, and for certified fluoride, lead or PFOA/PFOS reduction the cheaper G3P600 is the better fit.
Get it if You want the fastest flow here and a mineral stage, and you have the cabinet space and an outlet.
Skip it if You want fluoride, lead or PFOA/PFOS named in the certification: the G3P600 has that.

Waterdrop still sells a plain X8 with nine stages and no mineral stage. IAPMO R&T lists both models under the same certifications with the same claims.
What you get
Water goes through a 0.0001 micron RO membrane and, on the X8-A, a final stage that Waterdrop says adds calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium back. There is no storage tank: a pump pushes water through on demand, which is why the system needs an outlet. Waterdrop rates it at 800 gallons a day with a 2:1 pure-to-drain ratio. The faucet has a display for TDS and filter status. Three cartridges sit in the unit, rated by Waterdrop at 6, 12 and 24 months. The unit measures 18.2 by 6.25 by 16.72 inches and carries a 2-year warranty.
Earlier versions of this page described a UV sterilization stage. Waterdrop's pages for the X8 and the X8-A do not mention one, so we have removed it.
Certification: what the listings cover
The X8 (models WD-X8 and WD-X8-WAN) is listed by IAPMO R&T, which certifies to NSF/ANSI standards, under NSF/ANSI 58 for TDS reduction, NSF/ANSI 42 for chlorine taste and odour, and NSF/ANSI 372 for lead-free materials (files WC-13976, WC-14301 and WC-13977, checked 3 October 2026). The 58 listing names TDS and nothing else. Waterdrop cites SGS lab testing for PFOA, PFOS, fluoride, lead, barium, chromium VI and microplastics, but that is the maker's own testing, not part of the listing. The G3P600 is the one with certified fluoride, lead and PFOA/PFOS claims.
